Leon craig parallel hells5/21/2023 ![]() My exposure to depictions of lesbian relationships was limited to t.A.T.u.’s All The Things She Said, tabloid headlines and the script of Lost And Delirious which I found floating around online and read multiple times because I had no way of renting the film. ![]() I realised I was queer at the age of 11, back in 2003, a time when equal marriage was only legal in Denmark, the Netherlands and some provinces of Canada. It’s easier to be angry and scornful than it is to acknowledge your own loneliness. When you exist in a state of despair, each gesture of hope can feel like a cruel reproof. Other people’s displays of affection were particularly exasperating to me, each happy couple I saw pushing me further into an incoherent rage. ![]() As a teenager, I used to mark the occasion by wearing head-to-toe black and drinking cheap vodka mixed with Ribena concentrate. For many years I was a fully paid-up member of the anti-Valentine’s squad, muttering under my breath about how tacky it all was and how I wouldn’t be caught dead celebrating such a stupid holiday. Valentine’s haters are a select club – we recognise each other by our glowering faces from around mid-January onwards and our avoidance of the flower section of the supermarket, not to mention our determination to party the same weekend that all the committed couples will be murmuring sweet nothings over crème brûlée. ![]() The writer of Parallel Hells reflects on queering her perspective on the day dedicated to love BY LEON CRAIG, IMAGE BY MICHELLE LEMAN VIA PEXELS ![]()

Wellington webb pediatrics5/21/2023 ![]() ![]() While lead remains, parents have no reason to be concerned, according to Denver Public Schools spokesman Will Jones, because lead levels are now below what the Environmental Protection Agency considers “actionable.” But there’s no such thing as a “safe” amount of lead in the body, according to the EPA and the Centers for Disease Control. Others received signs instructing no one to drink the water. ![]() ![]() ![]() Some of those water sources have been treated to lower the lead concentrations. From blood ash5/21/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() However, it gives off a vibe like the more you use the gift, the more it makes itself known. Another rule from those in power, that she is not to use her gift. What started as feeling others’ pain, evolved quickly. It seems like we just scratched the surface with Poppy’s gift. It made the world unique and left the focus more on the world than expected behaviors of the characters. I loved that within this world, we essentially had creatures like vampires and werewolves, but with different names and slight variances in description. The only problem is that Poppy isn’t sure how and is increasingly sure that she doesn’t like the cage she is forced to live within. The Maiden’s ascension is meant to save them all. The religion maintains control by offering protection from monstrous creatures, created by the enemies of a past war. ![]() Throughout the first book we are introduced to a governing system driven by religious ceremony. The political and religious world development was outstanding. And was further smitten when she met the devilishly handsome guard Hawke, who was all too willing to see her and instead of her title. I think it was perfectly articulated in a line when Poppy was describing in the first chapter a list of things she wasn’t supposed to do (while having snuck out to a tavern) and she notes that she doesn’t always do what she’s supposed to do. The world of Blood and Ash was everything I hoped it would be and more. Published: March 30th 2020 by Blue Box Press ![]()

The wicked will rise by danielle paige5/21/2023 ![]() ![]() And also its quite realistic as no people are completely on the good side or in the wicked side, and this just prooves it. ![]() She doesn't always make the right decisions and sometimes she screws up real bad, but she keeps fighting bc she is challenging HERSELF. So, Amy is neither good nor bad in this book. And y'all need to admit it was actually unique. I was unsure at first and at some parts, as I was like guurl, what even are you doing?! But then I understood what the author was going with it. omg, and unlike some people i think I loved it. God, Amy's character development was actually real interesting in this book. I mean yeah, it was short and kinda rushed. ![]() This book was so much smaller than Dorothy Must Die, and of course Dorothy Must Die was slightly better, but it isn't THAT AS a disappointment like people say it is. UPDATE#3: I'VE READ IT AND ITS ACTUALLY REAL GOOD SO I'LL LEAVE YOU WITH A LIL REVIEW LMAO. ![]()
